I welcome those who scrapbook, crochet,
make jewelry, knit, design cards, paint, bead,
those who use rubber stamps, do needlework or even those looking for some extra time and fellowship to work on unfinished projects or mundane tasks. Everything is so much more enjoyable when surrounded with friends!!
About 75% of us are scrappers
but we're one big happy family!!
Some ladies who attend are NOT crafters
They want to take advantage of all the great services and activities we offer at the Harbor Shores in Lake Gneeva, Wisonsin so they simply bring a book to read, something to organize, crosswords to do, playing cards or whatever they need that makes them happy.

My name is Danita and I'm the owner and operator of Weekends Away Retreats. I offer Scrapbooking and Craft Retreats in the Midwest / Chicagoland area - Right in downtown Lake Geneva

I was here when the scrapbook industry
first started and I'm still here to serve you now!!
Why should you choose
Weekends Away Retreats??
- Because I believe in offering no less than what I would expect myself and selling only products I would use.
- Because I believe in offering you security - your supplies and materials are safe and sound. Someone with Weekends Away Retreats will be in the room whenever the room is unlocked!
Because I don't believe you should pay for things you don't use or need... Most of us just snack at the treat/sweet table all weekend so this keeps the cost down when I don't have to charge for meals.
- Because I offer a fabulous photo class at the events
- Because we our retreats are in the centrally located in the midwest - Over the Illinois border in Lake Geneva, Wisonsin
- Because we sell a medium array of scrapbook supplies and we sell them for "less than retail" as we don't have all the the overhead and expenses of stores!! But starting May of 2012, we will be phasing out the store for the most part. Look for great prices at the subsequent retreats...
- Because, as a scrapper, I know that we don't like to be interrupted with participating in games and such. I keep these interruptions to a minimum and simply draw names to give out prizes...
Because I believe a women's time away is necessary and essential to her sanity - I offer you an escape with other fun and outgoing women because we do need each other.

- Because of my experience in teaching scrapbooking for 17 solid years - I can help beginners who are overwhelmed with the thought of scrapbooking. Because my life is so busy, I specialize in fast, easy pages that look exciting and pleasing to the eye.
- Because of "Scrap It Forward' -our Trash to Treasure area where we exchange our "no longer used" products and supplies for items we need.

About Me
I'm a Christ follower (yes, this is different from simply saying you are a christian), wife, mother, housekeeper, valet, dish washer, nurse, therapist, counselor, referee, teacher, cook, janitor, financial officer, computer operator, facilities manager, CEO etc.
- As a crafter I scrap, bead, crochet and paint with many mediums
- I was in The Artist's Magazine - December 2005 Page 84
- I'm an usher for Sunday Services at Community Christian Church
- I was the Naperville Sun's "Dealer of the Month" in February 2007
- We regularly volunteer for our church missions
- I volunteer at the kids schools
- I teach classes called "Taking Better Pictures" and "Click It or Miss It" at park districts, clubs, at my events and for private parties
- I was one of the very first volunteers opening the Ronald McDonald Family Room in Naperville Il.
- We sponsor two girls, one in Haiti and one in India. My girls and I write to and get letters and pictures from Rosaline and Saranya all the time. We work with Compassion International and Worldvision. We've had a better experience working with World Vision and this is who I'd recommend. Won't you consider being a part of and changing a child's life?
- I believe in encouraging other women in their pursuits
- I do great book studies - most recently - Slightly Bad Girls of the Bible - Esther - The Red Tent - The Shack - The Power of a Positive Mom - Cold Tangarines - Food Rules - Being a Motivational Mom
- I was Everything Publication's Entrepreneur of the Month in June 2005
- I am getting in shape w/warm water aerobics 3x a week - cardio 2x a week
- I had ACL reconstruction in December of 2009 - fell down bleachers
- I was in Creating Keepsakes Magazine - February 2007 on page 177
- I was in a terrible car accident in 2001
- I drive a minivan <duh>
- No furry pets - allergies. But we do have Crested Geckos and fish
- I like to have fun
- I'm a Lieutenant in CAP - Civil Air Patrol. It's a an auxiliary of the Air Force. Our squadron is trained to perform missions like search and rescue, reconnaissance, aerial photography, humanitarian missions, searching for downed aircraft and more.
- I just made a facebook page for Weekends Away Retreats but I really don't know how to use it yet <grin>
- I have made over 150 scrapbook albums
- I was a representitive with a national scrapbook company for 10 years and was proud to earn high honors in both sales and recruiting every single quarter.. Then...

- My family works with Triple Threat - a sports mentoring program in an under-resourced area.
- I like to travel!! Most recently to Costa Rica, The Ozark Mountains in Missouri, The Smoky Mountains in Tennessee and South Carolina, Belize, Hounduras, Cozumel, Jamaica, Grand Caymen, Haiti, Antigua, St Maartin, St Thomas, Barbados, Puerto Rico, Aruba, Curcao and this is all I can remember off the top of my head. And yes... they are all in scrapbooks!!
